WHY BAPTISM?

In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus outlines that baptism is an important part of being His follower.  Baptism is symbolic of dying to our old life and being raised to new life in Christ. (Romans 6:3-4). When Christians are baptized, they are submerged under water to identify with the death and burial of Jesus and  when raised out of the water to identify with His resurrection.  As followers of Jesus we are a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17) and baptism is the outward sign of this inward rebirth.
