“This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
Matthew: 6:9
When Jesus is teaching His disciples how to pray, the first line He gives is “Our Father”. This is significant! Not only is He the one who is the creator of all and sustains all, but He is also our Father. What if we actually approached God in this manner, as our Father? How would that change the way we pray? The questions we ask? The way we converse with Him? We are not approaching a distant deity but our Father who is near. He is our Father and we are His kids, may we be reminded during this time of prayer and fasting that we are creating space to spend time with our Father. Hearing His heart for us as His kids and His heart for the world.
